Aniversario Por Rafael A. Sánchez
La
familia de The Cove/Rincón,
acompañada de muchos amigos amantes del arte y la cultura, colmó el espacio del
auditorio del NPTI (New Professions Technical Institute) el pasado 19 de agosto
de 2016, para celebrar sus 21 años de existencia con un evento dedicado a la Música.
La
apertura dio comienzo con la entrada entusiasta de la Directiva, que portaba la
pancarta de The Cove. Se cantó el
himno de unidad, con los miembros en el estrado tomados de la mano y balanceándose
al ritmo de la música: “Dame la mano, mi
hermano, con ella el corazón, para que reine la dicha en nuestro amado
Rincón…”.
Después
de la introducción, llevada a cabo por Marily,
se procedió a la entrega de nuestro galardón anual Quiet Hero Award 2016. Este año correspondió a nuestra querida Gloria León, promotora de música y arte
con una trayectoria admirable.
A
continuación se presentaron Batsheva
Forn con canciones motivacionales, Mario
Campo con canciones populares, Rafael
Martorell con un poema negroide y el tenor cubano Miguel Cervantes, quienes cargaron
el ambiente con la energía de sus voces.
Seguidamente,
Marily procedió a hacer entrega de
los correspondientes certificados y premios a los ganadores y participantes en los
certámenes de Artes Visuales, Poesía y Narrativa.
Los
destacados profesionales de Argentina
Adrián A. Ferrero, Héctor O. Romanzini, Alicia Cristina Kühn, Fátima Serione y
Norberto E. Almará sirvieron de jurado en los concursos, que se
definieron de la siguiente manera:

ganadora: Carlos
Gualpa (argentino): Bailando
ARTES
VISUALES - Finalistas: Rafael
Sánchez (nicaragüense), Juan F.
Benemelis (cubano) y Gustavo
Scarrone (urugüayo); no presentes: Rosana Tossi (argentina) y Maritza
López (cubana). PINTURA ganadora: La Diva
Lírica, de Rafael Sánchez; Juan F. Benemelis obtuvo una Mención con
su obra Orquesta de Amor.
NARRACIÓN
ganadora: Cayo el
telón, de Azucena Farías Hernández (mexicana);
Mención para María Virginia Hernández
Peña (mexicana) por su cuento Embriaguez
de notas.
Angie Cook Wong,
acompañada de su guitarra, mostró los atributos de su delicada voz. Octavio Orochena (tenor nicaragüense)
entonó poemas musicalizados de Rubén Darío. De Crescendo Music Center, los jóvenes
cubanos Rafael Rodríguez y Sunyen Lee, acompañados por su
estudiante Jordi, hicieron gala de su arte con las notas del teclado y sus violines.
Finalmente, nuestro incomparable Marcelino
Valdés nos deleitó con canciones de Raphael en su voz.
Con
canciones, rifas y premios finalizamos un encuentro matizado por grandes emociones,
en un ambiente de fraternal armonía multicultural. Fue una noche inolvidable dedicada
a la Música, nuestra invitada de
honor, tal como lo merecía este XXI
Aniversario.
Our 21th anniversary:
an affair to remember

The
Cove/Rincón
family, surrounded by numerous friends and lovers of art and culture, filled up
the NPTI (New Professions Technical Institute) last August 19, 2016, in
celebration of its 21th anniversary.
The opening ceremony began with
the entrance of the Board of Directors carrying The Cove’s banner. Our unity
hymn was sung while holding hands and swaying to its catchy melody.
Following the introduction by Marily, the Quiet Hero Award 2016 was received by our dear Gloria León, a devoted arts and culture promoter with an
outstanding career.
Next, Batsheva Forn delighted the audience with motivational songs, Mario Campo with popular songs, Rafael Martorell with a negroid poem,
and the Cuban tenor Miguel Cervantes with
his nostalgic musical renderings.
Certificates and prizes were
presented by Marily to the winners
and participants in the Visual Arts, Poetry, and Narrative contests.
This year, the distinguished
Argentinian professionals Adrián A. Ferrero, Héctor O. Romanzini, Alicia
Cristina Kühn, Fátima Serione, and Norberto E. Almará served as jury members,
with the following results:

Angie
Cook Wong
enchanted the public with her sweet voice. Octavio
Orochena (Nicaraguan tenor) offered vibrant musicalized poems by Rubén
Darío. From Crescendo Music Center, young Cuban talents Rafael Rodríguez and Sunyen
Lee, accompanied by their student Jordi, made full display of their art
with keyboard and violins. Last, but not least, Marcelino Valdés showered us with some of the best hits of the
Spanish singer Raphael.
And so, the evening came to an
end in the midst of powerful emotions and multicultural harmony. It was definitely
an unforgettable event where Music was
our honor guest: a fitting tribute to our COMING OF AGE!
